Abstract:
We deduce the relationships for surface plasmons from Maxwell’s equations. The electromagnetic field at the interface between two media is represented in the integral form of an angular spectrum of the surface plasmons. Analogues to Kirchhoff’s integral to describe the diffraction of the surface plasmons are presented. Applicability limits of the familiar integral relationships are established and their approximate character is demonstrated.

Key words:
