Abstract:
The influence of inversion type defects on the spectrum of one-dimensional photonic crystal has been investigated. It has been shown that character and degree of wave field localization in the defect area, as well as the position of a spectral line of the defect mode, the shape and its intensity depend strongly on the ratio of layer thickness and permittivity in the period of the structure, the values of permittivity in the defect, the number of full periods, location and number of defects in the structure. It has been discussed the possibility of formation of spectral lines of the defect modes of a given shape.

Key words:
photonic crystal, defect mode, photonic band gap, layered periodic structures.
