Abstract:
  In 1999, the Russian and world community celebrated the 275th anniversary of the Russian
  Academy of Sciences (RAS), founded by order of Peter I in February 1724. Over the years of its
  existence, the Academy has collected unique documents and now it can boast of a variety of rich
  archives that form an integral part of the world cultural heritage and are of exceptional interest. They
  are stored in the Central Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in various academic museums, scientific institutes, other organizations of the Academy, as well as in private collections and
  include artistic portraits and photographs of scientists, their manuscripts and other materials related
to the activities of the Russian Academy and the history of the world and Russian science.
