Resonant magneto-optical effects in diffraction gratings with a magnetized layer

Abstract:
This paper presents magneto-optical effects during propagation of electromagnetic waves through two- and three-layer structures consisting of a two-dimensional gold diffraction grating and a magnetized dielectric layer. Based on strict solution of the light diffraction problem, the structures are shown to have Faraday rotation and transmittance resonances. We present explanation of the effects resulted from waveguide propagation of radiation in the magnetized layer.
